Gapminder

Great for seeing change across time and comparing countries. You can choose your countries and the variables for the horizontal and vertical axes. You can see change across time. It's, visually, very powerful.

Statistics in visual form

World Bank Data

You can use the World Bank's Open Data initiative to gain access to World Bank data. The resources include databases, pre-formatted tables and reports. Some allow you to select the countries, indicators, and years you would like to search.
