Update 11, 2011 - Critical and Contextual Studies at the Courtauld Gallery

This is an opportunity for our Art and Design teachers to spend the day with one of our senior examiners and the Courtauld Gallery education team. You will use artefacts in the gallery to stimulate ideas in relation to Critical and Contextual studies. Thanks to all the Experts who have helped answer your questions this year, plus new resources.

Update 10, 2011 - Special FAD conference with guest Grayson Perry!

This exciting event, to be held at the British Museum on 31 January 2012, is for current and prospective course leaders and teachers of this qualification. It aims to provide an insight into what makes the FAD so unique and the ethos behind the qualification. We're excited to announce that our keynote speaker for this special event will be the Turner Prize-winning artist (and former Foundation alumnus) Grayson Perry. One of Britain’s foremost practitioners of art, craft and design, Perry creates beautiful, detailed pots, often exploring dark narratives. He has exhibited his work widely and used an interesting range of materials to develop his very personal concepts and ideas.

Update 9, 2011 - The Big Draw and the Campaign for Drawing

Hopefully, you will have heard of both The Big Draw and the Campaign for Drawing. In this update, Susan Coles writes about both and reminds us that drawing is a basic human skill and one of the first methods of communication. Many famous artists have been patrons and encouraged participation, particularly during October which is Big Draw month!
