Hair and Beauty

The hairdressing and beauty therapy sector covers a wide range of occupational areas including hairdressing, barbering, Afro-Caribbean hairdressing and barbering, beauty therapy, nail services and spa therapy. Practitioners may work in a variety of settings, from high-street salons to spas, hotels and cruise ships. This exciting and constantly evolving industry has an annual turnover of £5.25 billon (Habia, 2006, not including spa) and total employment of 245,795 (2007).

Habia survey of all Hair and Beauty qualifications 

Habia, the Standards Setting Body (SSB) for hair and beauty, have launched a review of all qualifications in this sector. The questionnaire is open to all, but is particularly directed towards training providers and centres involved in the delivery of hair and beauty qualifications.
