January exam session available for Project and EPQ
The Project Qualification and Extended Project Qualification will continue to have two windows available for assessment. These are during the January and June exam periods.
The removal of the January assessments window from the GCE qualifications from 2014 does not impact the Extended Project, which will still have an assessment window in January 2014.
About the Project
|
Project is an exciting new qualification for students of all abilities and interests. It is highly recommended by schools and leading higher education institutions for providing students with a means of acquiring independent learning skills. These skills will help with their existing study and prepare them for higher education or working life.
There are three levels of Project, all designed to stretch, challenge and motivate students: Level 1 – Foundation, Level 2 – Higher, and Level 3 – Extended. They carry the equivalence of half a GCSE (at Levels 1 and 2) and half a GCE (at Level 3), and also have the benefit of additional SCAAT and UCAS points, depending on level and grade.
Students work with a tutor-mentor as well as working independently to plan, manage, complete and evaluate a single piece of work. At Levels 1 and 2, this can take the form of a report, an artefact, a design or a performance. At Level 3, this can be a dissertation, an investigation or fieldwork, an artefact or a performance.
The Project qualification is already being recognised by universities, schools, colleges and students for the valuable skills it provides.
