Training events for the Project Levels 1 and 2 and Extended Project
To support you with the new Project specification, we're running a full range of training events.
We've organised face-to-face events on 'Successful Implementation and Assessment' for all levels of the Project in October/November 2010.
We understand that it's sometimes hard to come out to training events, so this year we've also set up a range of online training events for all levels of the Project on 'What makes a good title?' and 'Internal Standardisation and Assessment'. You can find full details of all training events in the training pages of the website.
Book now by visiting the training area of the website, or by calling 0844 576 0031.
The Chief Examiner for Project, John Taylor, will also be running training events on the Project at Rugby School. Full details of these events can be found here.
Please note these events are being run by Rugby School and not Edexcel. All bookings and queries should be directed to Rugby School.
The Perspectives Model for the Extended Project Dissertation
10 November 2011
Perspectives on Science (PoS) is an acclaimed Level 3 course designed to enable student research into ethical and philosophical issues surrounding science. PoS can be offered as a Designed Programmed within the Level 3 Extended Project.
The course is extremely popular both with science students looking to broaden their studies and humanities students interested in discussing and debating scientific issues. The skills it develops are highly prized by HE.
This course is for teachers and curriculum leaders looking for a rigorous, well-established route to implementation of the Level 3 Extended Project, using the Perspectives on Science course as a model which can also be applied in other subject areas.
Participants will explore approaches to critical reading of sources, philosophical thinking skills and ethical arguments, as well as the promotion of discussion and debate, management of student research projects, and assessment within the Extended Project framework.
The course leader is Dr John Taylor, who is PoS Director and Chief Examiner for Extended Projects. This course is designed and run by Rugby School. It will run from 10.15am to 3.45pm on 10 November 2011.
The fee per delegate is £125 + VAT = £150. For further details of the course programme and booking information, please contact Sarah Rusk at ser@rugbyschool.net or on 01788 556216.
