The NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is aimed at individuals working in, or seeking work in, primary, secondary or special schools as a teaching or classroom assistant, exam invigilator or mentor of volunteers. The NVQ covers work with children from 5 to 16. There are two levels (2 and 3), and the level will depend on the job role. Those who have gained NVQs in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools may progress to Higher Level Teaching Assistant status, teaching, social work, training or inspection.
