The public sector is the UK’s largest employer and includes central and local government, the armed forces, the emergency services, educational establishments and a host of public corporations. Students completing the BTEC Level 3 National Award, Certificate and Diploma in Uniformed Public Services can go on to a university degree or Foundation Degree in an appropriate vocational discipline, to BTEC HNCs or HNDs, to employment or - if working in the sector - to an appropriate NVQ.

The BTEC Nationals in Uniformed Public Services were replaced by the QCF-accredited BTEC Level 3 Certificate, Subsidiary Diploma, Diplomas and Extended Diplomas in Public Services from September 2010. Find out more
