The Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Further Pure Mathematics is designed for use in schools and colleges as a two-year course for students who have a high ability in, or are motivated by, mathematics.
This specification emphasises the importance of a common core of Pure Mathematics at IGCSE level. It has been constructed to broaden knowledge of the pure mathematics topics contained in the specifications for the IGCSE Mathematics (specification A) (Higher tier) and the IGCSE Mathematics (specification B).

· To develop knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts and techniques
· To develop mathematical skills for further study in the subject or related areas
· To develop an enjoyment in using and applying mathematical techniques and concepts, and confidence in using mathematics to solve problems
