Key subject aims:

• To enable students to understand the written forms of Sinhala within defined contexts
• To develop students’ writing skills, enabling them to communicate effectively in Sinhala using a range of vocabulary and structures
• To develop a knowledge and understanding of the grammar of Sinhala and its practical application
• To develop translation skills from English into Sinhala and from Sinhala into English
• To develop positive attitudes to language learning
• To provide a suitable foundation for further study of Sinhala.
