The Edexcel Certificate in Mathematics is based on the International GCSE Mathematics A qualification and is available to UK schools for first teaching from September 2011, with first examinations in summer 2012. There are no content changes between this specification and International GCSE Mathematics A.
Results for this qualification will be recorded in school performance tables as part of the five A*-C (including English and maths) and English Baccalaureate measures.
This qualification will be funded for use in UK state schools. Results will be recorded on school performance tables, and successful attainment of the Edexcel Certificate in Mathematics will count towards a student’s achievement of the English Baccalaureate.
The International GCSE Mathematics A qualification will continue to run alongside the Edexcel Certificate in Mathematics. However, it is not accredited for use in UK state schools and results will only be recorded on school performance tables up until 2013.
