BTEC Higher Nationals from 2010 | Creative Media Production

26 July 2010

Rule of combination changes for BTEC Higher National specifications

There are currently conflicting messages surrounding the amount of Level 4 credit that can be included in an HNC (the new QCF versions). We apologise for any confusion, and would like to clarify the position.

At the moment, version 3 of the briefing document is correct. You can view this document at www.edexcel.com/hnsbriefing.

The minimum value for the Level 4 content was originally set at 90 credits. Due to centre requests at HN launch events, the minimum value for Level 4 content is now 65 credits, to allow centres to take more credits (55 credits) from Level 5 units.

Copies of the accredited specifications found on the website and in hard copy currently have the old value. You should receive hard copies of these specifications soon. Please ignore the 90 credit minimum value for Level 4 and instead assume that the minimum Level 4 content in a HNC is set at 65 credits.
