Key BTEC developments for 2012 and beyond

An update for FE Colleges

Over the last year, we have been working with schools, colleges, universities, employers and learners to ensure that BTECs continue to meet the constantly evolving needs of today’s education sector. In addition, we have been planning for the potential impact of the reviews on Study Programmes, Funding, the UCAS tariff and Raised Participation Age.

It is vital that we get your input into all our key BTEC developments. We will shortly be announcing a roadmap for the future of BTEC qualifications and the exceptional levels of support surrounding these. Your continued input into all our key BTEC developments is essential. In the meantime, please find below a taster of some of these developments along with opportunities for you to input and stay in touch with the future development of these highly-valued qualifications.

Redevelopment of BTEC Nationals for first teaching September 2014

We are beginning a review and redevelopment of our BTEC Nationals suite with a view to having new qualifications available for first teaching in September 2014 (subject to Ofqual accreditation). This process is to ensure that our level 3 BTECs continue to meet the changing needs of learners and reflect the evolving education and employment context. As part of this project, we are keen to hear your thoughts, in particular on the quality assurance process. If you would like to get involved in shaping the next generation of BTEC Nationals, please let us know.
