Quality model will continue as before We recently sent you a letter about the quality assurance model for BTEC Higher Nationals. In it, we explained that we will now be returning to the previous quality model, which will essentially continue to work as it has done for the past ten years. This means that, as previously, we will be appointing external examiners to FE colleges running BTEC Higher Nationals, and these external examiners will continue to visit you to review the outcomes of internal assessment.
This will be effective immediately, and you should expect to receive your allocation of external examiners in the usual way towards the end of December 2010. What action do I need to take? If you haven’t yet appointed external examiners, you no longer need to do so, and no action is required. If you have already appointed external examiners, please contact your Regional Quality Manager, who will be happy to guide and assist you. Your Regional Quality Manager will then liaise with the relevant team to decide whether it’s possible for them to join our team of external examiners. If so, we’ll then allocate these external examiners to your centre. Will this affect the fees? Yes. This change will mean that the reduced fee structure for Higher Nationals that had been embedded within the FE licence model will now no longer apply. If you need more information about fees, please contact your Curriculum Development Manager (CDM) who will be happy to discuss this further with you. Further information and support We want to ensure you’re fully supported in making the transition back to the previous model. Please check the quality assurance news page regularly for updates and information (you’ll find the letter here, too). If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. |
