That's why, working with a team of sector experts, and taking into account feedback from practitioners, we've developed a comprehensive selection of training and events which are engaging, relevant and extremely useful for anyone involved with BTEC.

Who are they for?

Our sector-specific ‘Building a BTEC Higher National’ events have been designed for anyone currently delivering - or looking to deliver - BTEC Higher Nationals in 2012. We have also included a full-day event for those new to teaching BTEC Higher Nationals. 

Our full-day training sessions cover all the information and support that you need to deliver the HNC or HND qualification in confidence.

Building a BTEC Higher National programme on the QCF

Training sessions will:

  • review changes to Higher Nationals following the introduction of the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF)
     
  • review the structure and content of the qualification including new units and changes to the core
     
  • explore approaches to devising a Higher National programme of study, looking at varying programme types; first and second year programmes; delivering the project unit(s); employer engagement; and relationship to degree provision
     
  • explore approaches to assessment, with opportunities to share good practice regarding assessment methodology to boost student motivation and achievement and approaches to assignment writing
     
  • review the requirements of the Quality Assurance model
     
  • review support available from Edexcel
     
  • offer an opportunity to ask questions and network.
