Why choose Edexcel for GCSE ICT?
The ICT course your students would choose - and you will want to teach
Based on wide research
We've talked to hundreds of teachers, and to students, to find out what you all like and dislike about the current specifications. Based on your feedback, we've produced a new specification which should help you address some of the issues you face:
Student appeal - The new specification will help you to recruit students, with content that's relevant to the digital society we all live in.
More attractive to girls - The course content is designed to appeal to both sexes, helping to make the subject more attractive to female students.
Time-efficient - To help with the timetable squeeze, the Single and Double Award GCSEs are very time-efficient and cut out repetitive assessment activities.
Helping non-specialist teachers - We provide all the support you need, from schemes of work to online results analysis to show your students' strengths and weaknesses.
Interesting and relevant to students
The content includes:
- personal digital devices
- online shopping
- e-safety
- digital design
- digital publishing
- social networking
Because it covers aspects of the digital world that students are familiar with in their daily lives, the course is both relevant and interesting to students.
A clear, efficient structure
Our specification tells you what you need to teach - outlining the depth and breadth of each topic area.
The modular structure allows flexibility for you to plan and deliver the units in the way that suits your learners best.
A single specification works for both the Single and the Double Award. Both Single and Double Award students take units 1 and 2. Double Award students also take two further units, 3 and 4.
Assessment is straightforward: there is a written exam paper marked by Edexcel, and a Controlled Assessment Brief that's set by Edexcel, marked by centres and moderated by us. Double Award students do two written papers and two controlled assessment tasks.
