Why choose Edexcel's GCSE in Digital Communication?

Digital Communication is a new GCSE pilot qualification that is approved to run for five years. This exciting and unique qualification can be taken alongside GCSE English or GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature, to give you the option of another GCSE within the Edexcel English GCSE suite for all your students.

If you're interested in teaching GCSE Digital Communication, please let us know by emailing digitalcommunication@pearson.com. We can then ensure you receive free resources as well as access to all materials on our website.

To help you get started, please visit our Support Directory. Here you will find details of the comprehensive support we offer, including the additional support materials available across all our English GCSE specifications and our dedicated English Subject Advisor service.

What will the GCSE in Digital Communication offer?
This new pilot GCSE introduces students to English through the study and production of digital texts, such as film, other moving image texts, websites and podcasts. It allows them to acquire knowledge of how these texts are composed to convey different meanings. This qualification also equips students with the skills they need to communicate within the modern world. As well as reading digital texts, students will be given the opportunity to design, create and evaluate their own digital communication.

How will Edexcel support this GCSE?
Alongside a wealth of free resources (including schemes of work, sample student answers with examiner commentary and a student textbook that's supported by free online resources), we're offering free standardisation and feedback events throughout 2012.

How can my students benefit from this qualification?
By being part of this pilot, you'll be able to offer your students an alternative to the two-GCSE combination of GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature. By taking Edexcel GCSE English and GCSE Digital Communication, students will have the opportunity to gain two GCSEs which focus on English and attain the same number of points.
