Amendment to GCSE History controlled assessment part A mark scheme

Following feedback from the summer 2010 examination series, we have made a small amendment to the GCSE History specifications A and B controlled assessment mark scheme for the part A enquiry.

The L4 mark scheme has been expanded to clarify its requirements against the likely question targets. We have added the words in italics below:

"…with a reasoned argument about the nature/extent of change/significance/consequences OR whether one factor was more important…"

There has also been a minor amendment to the L1 descriptor. We have removed the word 'identified', as shown below:

"A limited number of sources has been identified and used in the enquiry."

These changes have been updated in the GCSE History A and B specifications which can be downloaded from the qualifications pages. The changes are tracked in the specifications.
