The GCSE in Health and Social Care is a work-related qualification designed to encourage learning in a vocational context and introduce students to career opportunities in the sector. Equivalent to two GCSEs, it’s made up of three units: Health, Social Care and Early Years Provision; Promoting Health and Wellbeing and Understanding Personal Development and Relationships.
Assessment is both internal and external. Progression routes from this GCSE could be to A level or BTEC National qualifications, to vocational training, such as a Modern Apprenticeship or NVQ or to employment in the health, social care or early years sectors.
