GCE from 2008 | Physical Education

More about our GCE from 2008 in PE

This specification offers a refreshing and innovative approach to the study of physical education and sport at an advanced level, building upon the previous specification while offering additional flexibility for students. The capacity for students to choose the roles they prefer makes this a thoroughly accessible qualification for all abilities.

  • Re-introduction of moderation visits for tasks 2.1 and 4.3

We have re-introduced the option to have a moderation visit for tasks 2.1 (Personal Performance) and 4.3 (Progressive Participation) through centre ‘cluster’ visits. The visiting moderator will sample candidates’ practical activities to ensure that the awarding of marks is in line with our requirements.

  • Wider choice of roles

For AS, we have introduced the new roles of leader and official in addition to that of performer participant. Students can choose the capacity in which they would prefer to be assessed, making this an accessible specification for all ability levels.

  • A course structured to reward practical performance

The course is structured with the internally assessed units/coursework (unit 2 and unit 4) making up 50% of the qualification. The externally assessed units - the written papers (unit 1 and unit 3) - make up the remaining 50%.

  • A dedicated Subject Advisor

Our exclusive Subject Advisor service puts you in direct contact with our Subject Advisor team led by Penny Lewis, who will answer your questions on all aspects of our PE specification and examination preparation.

  • We’ll help you move to our GCE PE specification
