 GCE Chemistry

A motivating specification

This specification enables contemporary chemistry contexts to be included with the teaching and learning programme. It is designed to be motivating to both teachers and students by encouraging more students to study chemistry and encouraging teachers to update the content that they deliver. Students will study different aspects of chemistry that are often in the media, and that affect their lives.

It is important that students have the required knowledge and understanding of the fundamental chemistry concepts in order to explain many different aspects of contemporary chemistry, such as climate change, green chemistry, pharmaceuticals and chemistry research. This Chemistry specification has been developed to meet the new QCA requirements but draws on the strengths and experience of the current Edexcel Chemistry and Nuffield specifications.
