More about our GCE in Performing Arts
The Edexcel GCE in Performing Arts has been developed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the performing arts sector. It has been designed to be delivered in a work-related context and to allow learners to develop an understanding of the performing arts sector.
In addition to developing their performance skills, students will gain an understanding of how a performance is realised from both a creative and an administrative and organisational perspective. External assessment is in the form of student performance assessed by a visiting examiner.
This course is ideal for students who like creating project-style work and investigating real situations. Learners will study six units, and the majority of the work is assessed through coursework.
Students will enjoy this course if they have an interest in developing broad skills, knowledge and understanding based on the practical needs and concerns of the performing arts industry, and wish to develop:
- their own skills, with an opportunity to specialise in either performance or production support
- an understanding of all aspects of performing arts
- an insight into the nature of the performing arts industry: employment opportunities, constraints, and issues facing professionals working within the sector
- a knowledge of the working methods used by professionals – as an individual in teams, and with clients, commissioners and audiences.
Our Applied GCEs will remain available until 2014 - read more...
