These qualifications have been designed to reflect the skills, knowledge and understanding that are required in the modern performing arts industry. Today’s workforce must be able to problem solve,work as a member of a team, be able to plan and make decisions: all of which are reflected in the units on offer to the learner.

Centres are encouraged to arrange visits to a variety of venues, where the learner can observe performances and may even be able to participate. Where possible the learners should be able to meet with the staff to discuss their roles within the venue. This enables learners to see the purpose of the units and the employment opportunities available.

Access to practical rehearsal and performance spaces is essential for certain units and the tutors will therefore need to plan the programme on offer around these constraints.

These qualifications enable centres to deliver and integrate Functional Skills into a number of the units. There are also opportunities to cover aspects of Every Learner Matters, including ‘enjoy and achieve’ and ‘make a positive contribution’.
