BTEC Vocational Qualifications | Health and Social Care


N.B. Following a recent government decision there are two live specifications for Level 1 Health and Social Care - the 2009 specification and the 2011 specification. Please note the 2011 specification is funded for post-16 learners only. Both of these are available to download below.

Edexcel are offering new qualifications for BTEC Level 1 Health and Social Care, which have been accredited on the QCF for teaching from September 2011.

These new qualifications will run alongside Edexcel's existing Health and Social Care qualifications from 1st September 2011.

Please note that from December 2012, the 2009 specifications will be extended for use in 2012-13.

These qualifications have been designed to help learners understand the skills and knowledge needed to work in the health and social care sector and to develop practical skills in preparation for employment or progression in education.

Centres are encouraged to offer visits and guest speakers to give the learners a better understanding of employment opportunities available and the importance of further study.
