These qualifications have been designed to help learners gain the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to care for their own children or children in a voluntary capacity, eg baby sitting. The learner will be able to develop their own skills at the same time.

Learners will learn how to respect and value children as individuals, how to tell stories, plan musical and creative experiences and keep children safe.

It is anticipated that this qualification will be delivered through a wide range of practical activities, eg make and play a variety of musical  instruments, create picture books, and make a variety of crafts or toys.

These Caring for Children qualifications have been written so that working with children is not a requirement.

There are close links in these qualifications with Functional Skills and many aspects of Every Learner Matters.
