New units added
Additional motor vehicle maintenance and repair and customer service units have been added to the BTEC Entry 3 and Level 1 Vocational Studies specification, including:

introduction to the motor vehicle maintenance and repair sector

introduction to Health and Safety
-
carrying out vehicle maintenance and repair operations
-
planning and organising for vehicle maintenance and repair tasks
-
introduction to customer service
-
importance of appearance and behaviour in customer service
-
understand how to deal with queries and requests.

These qualifications offer centres the opportunity to create their own courses by combining the mandatory self-assessment and career progression units required to complete this qualification with units from a range of other vocational qualifications.
Learners must complete the self-assessment unit at the start of their studies and complete the career progression unit at the end of their studies.

Learners gain the other required number of credits from completing units in other vocational qualifications, where they will develop their skills and knowledge in a vocationally related context.
Centres have the opportunity to deliver a variety of units to suit the needs and interests of their learners, perhaps using the units as tasters for further study or employment options.
