The BTEC Level 2 First Certificate and Diplomas in Engineering are designed to introduce learners to working in the sector or prepare them for further study, such as a BTEC National qualification or an appropriate NVQ. Specialist study can include, for example, mechanical or electronic maintenance fundamentals, using computer-aided drawing techniques, and mobile communications technology.

The BTEC Firsts in Engineering were replaced by the QCF-accredited BTEC Level 2 Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diplomas in Engineering from September 2010. Find out more
