Diploma | Information Technology

The Diploma in Information Technology teaches young people about IT in business. The employer-endorsed content is up-to-date and relevant, reflecting the blend of business, technical, interpersonal and project skills needed by someone who is thinking about a career in the IT and telecoms sector.

Through completing the Principal Learning, learners will:

investigate technology systems used in business
explore the impact of technology on organisations, individuals and society
produce small-scale technology systems, including databases and networks
create effective multimedia products
learn how to manage and deliver successful IT projects
develop their team-working, communication and problem-solving skills.

Principal Learning Level 3 specification

Please note that in order to comply with Ofqual requirements, we have re-issued all Principal Learning specifications for Phases 1, 2 and 3 on the Edexcel website. At Ofqual’s request, the unit summaries for all internally assessed units in the specification have been moved to an annexe to the document. Minor typing corrections have been also been made. It is still possible to use previous issues of hard copy specifications for teaching purposes.
