Edexcel’s next generation
Level 2 Certificate in Digital Applications (CiDA) has now been accredited by Ofqual for first teaching from the 1st October 2012.
The next generation CiDA (120 GLH) has been refocused around creative computing, and includes content on creative multimedia, website and computer game development. We have kept the changes from the much-loved predecessor AiDA (90 GLH) qualification to a minimum, whilst redeveloping the qualification to comply with Professor Alison Wolf’s recommendations for high-quality vocational qualifications (for example, by introducing 25% external assessment and increasing the GLH).
The accredited specification for the Next Generation CiDA (120 GLH) is now available to download under ‘Specification’ in the document library below, alongside Sample assessment materials for unit 1, and Sample SPBs (Summative Project Briefs) for units 2, 3 and 4.
Headline Measures
For schools in England, next generation CiDA (120 GLH) will count towards headline performance measures in 2015. The qualification has not been included on the 2014 list. Visit our School Performance Tables page for the complete breakdown of the DfE’s list.
