This qualification is accredited on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at Level 7, which is postgraduate level.
In addition to the designated guided learning hours (270 GLH), the Edexcel Level 7 BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies requires learners to devote significant time for private study, research and reading around the subject matter of each of the nine units to be completed. Additionally, learners are required to apply their knowledge of management studies and skills of management to complete an assignment for each unit, based on workplace contexts.
Where learners are studying the 2005 NQF version of the Edexcel Level 7 BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies to progress to Higher Education Institutions, including the framework of MBAs (Masters in Business Administration), the accepted CATs points will be 120. This reflects the depth and breadth of study required for this level of qualification and includes reading, research and assessment in the programme of study.
Edexcel centres and their learners are encouraged to use the above statement to facilitate progression to the framework of awards offered by Higher Education Institutions in the UK and elsewhere, as well as relevant professional bodies.
This qualification will expire on the NQF on 31 July 2010 (last certification: 31 July 2013), and will be replaced from 1 August 2010 by our new equivalent qualification on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
