| We will be running a one-day workshop to provide a platform for training providers, employers and further education colleges to learn about the new assessor and verifier qualifications available from 1 September 2010, as developed by Lifelong Learning UK.
By attending the workshop you will be able to:
- Understand the rationale behind the new qualifications
- Identify the appropriate qualification options for your assessors and quality assurers based on their roles
- Compare Edexcel delivery and assessment options and use Edexcel assessment approaches to support effective delivery
- Identify Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for existing staff
- Identify organisational challenges and discuss opportunities and identify ways in which Edexcel can provide further help.
Who should attend?
- Individual practitioners involved in the delivery, assessment or quality assurance of NVQs or other NQF or QCF competence-based awards
- Human resource managers, and staff development or quality managers within training providers or further education organisations who are responsible for planning and implementing the necessary changes

Trainers' profiles This event will be delivered by Sally Garbett and Hilary Read, who have over 30 years' experience between them in training assessors, quality assurers and teachers, and developing learning materials.
Sally was a Policy Advisor for Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) and managed the review of qualifications aimed at assessors and quality assurers. She is one of only a handful of people nationally with a detailed knowledge of the units and the approaches needed to develop staff and assess competence in this area.
Hilary was involved in the consultation process as part of the review of qualifications and has carried out research for LLUK within the work-based sector concerning the mandated teaching qualifications (PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS). She also writes and publishes guidance for assessors and internal quality assurers nationally. |
