Edexcel Academic Awards | Proficiency in Number and Measure
Available at Level 1 and Level 2, the Edexcel Award for Proficiency in Number and Measure is a new qualification that's been developed by the same team who brought you Edexcel GCSE and GCE Mathematics. It's designed to give students a sound foundation in mathematical techniques and concepts.
 

Available for first examination and award in summer 2012, this qualification is funded and approved for:

  • 16- to 18-year-old students in England
  • schools and colleges in Wales.

This new qualification:
 
• is a 60 guided learning hour, competency-based qualification that focuses on mathematical techniques
 
• has similar content and style of assessment to GCSE Mathematics 
 
• helps students acquire confidence in the mathematical skills needed for GCSE Mathematics
 
• helps students develop a proficiency in number and measure to support wider progression to further studies, the workplace or training
 
• is assessed through one written paper, available every summer.
