We regret to announce that the Department for Education has informed us that it will not approve section 96/97 listing for the BTEC in Mathematical Applications in either its pilot or its new QCF format at this time. It is therefore unlikely to be fundable or attract attainment points for centres in England this academic year. We're continuing to work with the Department to ensure that the new BTEC in Mathematical Applications qualification is available to centres as soon as possible, but at this stage we are not in a position to offer any information on when, or if, that will take place.
Please note that this does not affect centres in Wales, where we have received confirmation from DCELLS that the new QCF qualification will be added to the Database of Approved Qualifications in Wales, enabling delivery in centres from 1 September 2010.
We hope that you will accept our apologies for this late notification and the inevitable inconvenience it will cause you and your learners. Please be assured that we will be taking all actions available to us to resolve this matter as soon as possible.
If you require any further information or advice about this announcement, please email mathsemporium@edexcel.com.
