NVQ and competence-based qualifications (QCF) | Sport, Active Leisure and Well-being

Sport, Active Leisure and Well-being covers a range of jobs and careers, from working in exercise and fitness to working in a leisure centre or on a caravan site. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are available from Level 1 to Level 4 and, especially if taken as part of an apprenticeship, give opportunities to develop a mix of practical and technical skills that allow development at work and progression to further education.

Which NVQ is right for an individual will depend on their experience and the role being undertaken. With a Level 2 NVQ in Active Leisure, Learning and Well-being Operational Services, you could work in a sports centre or other sports facility or even a in a holiday park or ice rink. For a career in fitness, helping people get fit, recover from injury or train for sports competitions, you could choose the Level 2 NVQ in Instructing Exercise and Fitness.
