Calling all BTEC centres and students!
This year, we’re once again carrying out a BTEC Progression Survey. This gives students the opportunity to let us know what they’ll be doing when they’ve completed their qualification, as well as what they thought of their BTEC course. Not only that, but every registered BTEC student who completes the survey will be entered into a free prize draw to win one of six great Apple prizes.

Last year's survey
The key findings from the 2010 survey are outlined below:
- Among both BTEC National Diploma and BTEC First Diploma learners, formal progression is evident:
- two-thirds of BTEC National Diploma learners progress to further studies at university or college
- 54% of BTEC First Diploma learners progress to further college studies
- 75% of BTEC National Diploma, and 70% of BTEC First Diploma learners progressed within the same sector.
- BTEC qualifications deliver value to the individual learner in terms of enabling progression to employment, almost a quarter of BTEC National learners had a job confirmed.
- Half of all learners indicated that the BTEC was a formal requirement for progression…
- … and an impressive 81% of those who are studying indicated that the BTEC provided them with skills that are vital for their current studies.
- Those surveyed saw their BTEC qualifications as delivering value in the longer term. For example, 80% saw their BTEC as helping to enhance their career, or as providing a stepping stone towards their dream job.
- And value is not just formal: there is a widespread agreement among learners that BTECs deliver value across a number of dimensions, including organisation and confidence.
