Recognising vocational excellence in 2012

Every year, we hear many wonderful stories about truly outstanding BTEC students in schools and colleges across the UK, who are being taught by excellent teachers and tutors in great centres.

Now in their second year, the National BTEC Awards: recognising vocational excellence will reward and celebrate these outstanding individuals and centres.

Shout your successes from the rooftops!

Do you have an outstanding BTEC student or apprentice who deserves to have their achievements recognised? Do you know a top BTEC teacher or tutor who inspires the best in their students and deserves national recognition? Do you believe your centre or organisation should be recognised for its excellence in BTEC delivery?

If so, let us know by submitting your nominations now for:

  • Outstanding BTEC Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Teacher/Tutor of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC School/College of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Adult Learner of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Apprentice of the Year (16-18 year olds)
  • Outstanding BTEC Adult Apprentice of the Year (19+ year olds)
  • Most Innovative BTEC Apprenticeship Provider of the Year

As well as these seven main categories, there will also be awards for the most outstanding student within their sector, with awards for:

  • Outstanding BTEC Business and Enterprise Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC IT Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Media Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Science and Engineering Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Creative Art & Design Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Child & Social Care Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Sport Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Performing Arts Student of the Year
  • Outstanding BTEC Beauty and Hospitality Student of the Year

The 2012 prizes and Awards Ceremony

Some very prestigious prizes will be awarded to this year's winners:

  • Each BTEC Student winner will win the opportunity of a work experience placement with a well-known employer in their sector;
     
  • The Outstanding BTEC Student of the Year, the Outstanding BTEC Teacher/Tutor of the Year and the two Outstanding BTEC Apprentices of the Year will each receive an iPad;
     
  • The Outstanding School/Centre of the Year will receive a selection of Pearson resources; and
     
  • All winners will receive a certificate and a trophy;
     
  • Plus the pride in knowing that your vocational excellence has been recognised and celebrated!

This year's glittering Awards Ceremony will be held in London on Thursday 5th July 2012, where the winners will be announced and will receive their prizes in front of an invited audience of teachers, tutors, parents, work-based learning providers, employers, MPs and many more experts in vocational excellence.

Rod Bristow, President of Pearson UK and special guests will be speaking at the Awards Ceremony to celebrate the winners and share their thoughts on the importance of vocational education.
