Edexcel is pleased to confirm that QCA has approved our proposal to offer the option for internal assessment in the above specifications to be marked either by the teacher or by an examiner appointed by Edexcel.

This option will apply to Units 3 and 6 in GCE Biology, GCE Chemistry and GCE Physics.

We hope that this option will allow teachers maximum flexibility in planning a course to meet the needs of their centre and their students.

Further guidance relating to the Edexcel-marked internal assessment will be issued later this term and posted on the relevant GCE 2008 subject web pages.
