Mathematics Advanced Extension Award (AEA) extended!

We are pleased to announce that the Advanced Extension Award (AEA) in Mathematics has been extended up until the end of June 2012.

The AEA in Mathematics was previously due to be withdrawn, along with AEA awards in other subjects, following the last examination in June 2009. However, the DCSF has agreed that the AEA meets a definite need for students. As a result it will be extended for another three sessions until June 2012 when its place within the GCE qualifications will be re-assessed.

The AEA award has proven to be a popular qualification with over 1500 centres entering for examinations in June 2008. If you’re not yet offering AEA but are interested in doing so, you can find out more about AEA here.

You can find the Mathematics AEA specification, past papers and mark schemes, examiner reports and grade boundaries from 2002 up to 2008 in the AEA section of the website (you will be asked for your Edexcel Online username and password, available from your examinations officer).
