We are working in collaboration with the relevant sector skills councils (SSCs) to develop a new set of QCF competence-based qualifications, to be available from 2010. Health and Social Care (HSC) NVQs
We have been working with Skills for Care and Development and Skills for Health on these new qualifications for the QCF. The current HSC NVQs at levels 2, 3 and 4 will be replaced with Diploma-sized qualifications (37 credits or more) at levels 2, 3 and 4 on the QCF.

Pharmacy Support Services NVQs
We have been working with Skills for Health on the 32 new Pharmacy National Occupational Standards, a new Assessment Strategy and the new qualification structures at levels 2 and 3. They have been submitted to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills for final approval.

Children’s Care, Learning and Development (CCLD) NVQs
We have been working with Skills for Care and Development on these new qualifications for the QCF. The current CCLD NVQs at levels 2, 3 and 4 will be replaced with Diploma-sized qualifications (37 credits or more) at levels 2, 3 and 4 on the QCF.
The Children’s Workforce Development Council is leading on the Level 3 Children and Young People’s Diploma (estimated size (September 2009) 60 credits). This qualification will have three pathways:
The Care Council for Wales is leading on the Level 2 and 4 Diplomas for the QCF. Full details are not yet available.
