We operate a registration system for DiDA. Centres will need to register all candidates who intend to follow the qualification at the start of the academic year in which they begin their study. As this is a paperless qualification, centres will need to register by either EDI or Edexcel Online.
Registrations allow Edexcel to make information available to centres at which candidates are following the qualification, as well as inviting those centres to take part in onscreen assessment training, without the need for them to provide estimated entries.
The registration fee structure also allows Edexcel to offer discounted fee rates, compared to those charged for an incremental entry system. It is essential that all candidates are registered at the beginning of the year.
Up to unit submission, registrations can be amended to another level if centres contact Entries and Certification. Upon submission of unit entries, registrations cannot be amended.
If entries are received for a candidate who is not registered then the candidate will automatically be registered for AiDA. Any subsequent unit entries after the initial registration fees incur additional unit fees. This means candidates registered on GADA can progress from AiDA to DiDA without re-registering.
You will be liable for a late registration fee if your candidates are not registered by the registration deadlines (see Key dates for DiDA for details of these).
Please note that candidates should be registered for the relevant qualification in the year they begin their study on that qualification, even if you do not intend to enter them for any unit assessments until subsequent years. Registering allows you to access important information for completion of the qualification.
Registration requirements
On registration, centres will be required to supply personal details for each candidate, along with their Unique Candidate Identifier (UCI) number.
Centres will also be asked to indicate the qualification stage they expect the candidate to complete (Award, Certificate or Diploma) but there is no need at this stage to indicate the level at which the qualification will be claimed. The registration codes are:
GADA — Award in Digital Applications
GCDA — Certificate in Digital Applications
GEDA — Extended Certificate in Digital Applications
GDDA — Diploma in Digital Applications
Registering for a particular qualification does not oblige the candidate to complete it. A candidate registered for a Diploma can be awarded a Certificate and, similarly, a candidate registered for a Certificate can be awarded a Diploma, provided that they have completed the required number of units.
The qualification for which a candidate is registered will determine the fee charged. Where entries are received for unregistered candidates, a registration will automatically be created for them at the AiDA level. This may result in higher fees being incurred for them over the course of the qualification.
Because a candidate’s registration does not need to match the qualification that they claim, there is no process for amending a registration. If a candidate is registered for a Certificate and decides to complete a Diploma, you will not be required to change the registration. However, you will be charged additional unit fees for the extra units the candidate will be required to take, over and above the two unit entries covered by the registration fee for the Certificate. Please note that if a candidate does not submit work for a unit and is not withdrawn before the withdrawal deadline, then this will count as an attempt at the unit.
