Seeking eligibility for GCE in Applied subjects

Claiming a qualification

If you wish to claim a qualification for a student in a particular assessment window, you can do so by making an entry for a cash-in (award claim) code, along with any unit entries required in that window. The cash-in code indicates the level at which the student wishes to claim. In order to be eligible for a particular claim, the student must have completed the required combination of units.

A GCE in Applied subjects AS, AS (Double Award), A level, or A level (Double Award) can be claimed, regardless of the student’s initial registration, provided that he or she meets the eligibility requirements for the qualification claimed. This allows you to claim an AS and/or A level for a student who will ultimately complete an A level (Double Award), without the need to transfer or top up the registration.

Eligibility to claim

For students to be issued with a grade for a particular qualification claim, they must satisfy the eligibility requirements for that qualification. You can check eligibility for students for whom claims have been made using Edexcel Online.

It is essential that centres check that their students are eligible for any qualification claimed for them.
