What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are a combination of work-based training and education. An Apprenticeship allows learners to focus on skills development, know-how and understanding to progress from novice to specialist. Apprentices learn while they work, so you can be assured that their knowledge and skills are up to date while they gain invaluable on-the-job experience.
Currently around a quarter of a million people are training as apprentices each year in England alone.
Apprenticeships have a growing role to play in raising the skill levels of the UK workforce - so much so, that the government has set a target of doubling the number of apprentices to 500,000 a year by 2020.
