Our BTEC vocational qualifications are work-related qualifications suitable for a wide range of learners, built to accommodate the needs of employers and allow progression to university. They provide a more practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a key theoretical background.

expand BTEC Level 1 Introductory (recommended for ages 14+)

BTEC level 1 Introductory qualifications offer a broad introduction to a vocational subject or sector, forming the basis for further study. BTEC Level 1 Introductory qualifications are suitable for any learner aged 14 upwards and are designed for those who are not able to achieve A*- C grade GCSEs, but who are motivated by a work-related course.
expand BTEC Level 2 Firsts(recommended for ages 14-16)

BTEC Level 2 First qualifications are the equivalent of traditional GCSE grades A*-C.  With over 60 subjects linked to industry sectors, BTEC Level 2 Firsts are suitable for pre-16 learners and are designed for those who are capable of achieving A*- to C-grade GCSEs, but wish to focus on a work-related vocational qualification or work area.

Next generation BTEC First qualifications from 2012 and 2013 (NQF) are not currently available to international centres. You can continue to offer the BTEC Level 2 Firsts from 2010 programmes accredited on the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). Please contact your nearest Edexcel Regional Office in the first instance.
expand BTEC Level 3 Nationals(recommended for ages 16+)

BTEC Level 3 Nationals are the equivalent of traditional A levels and are highly regarded by universities, further education colleges and employers alike.

They are designed as specialist, vocational qualifications for those who have a clear view of their future career or want to progress to higher education. There are around 300 qualifications for students to choose from.

BTEC Level 3 Nationals are suitable for students aged 16 upwards and are recommended for those who have achieved at least four A*-C grade GCSEs or have completed a BTEC Level 2 First or local equivalent.

BTEC WorkSkills and BTEC Effective Behaviours for Work qualifications have been designed to help you build critical and transferable skills that will help you succeed in the workplace and develop your career.

BTEC WorkSkills: Entry Level–Level 3 (recommended for ages 14+)

BTEC WorkSkills is a flexible suite of BTEC qualifications suitable for learners of all ages and at all stages of their working lives. WorkSkills builds on the ABC of employability – Attitude, Behaviour and Communication – to develop the skills that employers are looking for and to give learners an edge in a competitive climate.

BTEC Effective Behaviours for Work: Levels 1-5, and Level 7 (recommended for ages 14+)

Effective Behaviours for Work (EBW) is a new suite of professional qualifications designed to develop key skills and associated behaviours that will allow employees and prospective employees to contribute more effectively in the workplace. 

expand Edexcel International Diploma: Level 3 (recommended for ages 16-19)

The Edexcel International Diploma (ID) is a unique combination of Edexcel academic and BTEC vocational qualifications that creates rounded students, equipped with the key skills, knowledge and behaviours that are needed for success in the 21st Century.
expand BTEC Specialist Qualifications: Levels 1-3 (recommended for ages 14+)

Available from Entry Level to Level 3, our BTEC Specialist qualifications enhance learners’ employability and aid progression by providing valuable skills, knowledge and understanding needed in the workplace. BTEC Specialist qualifications are available for full-time or part-time learners in schools, colleges, training centres or through employers around the world.
expand BTEC Higher Nationals: Level 4-5

BTEC Higher Nationals (HNs) provide a programme of specialist vocational learning at levels 4 and 5 which reflects the requirement of professional organisations and meets the UK National Occupational Standards for each sector or industry. 
expand BTEC Professional qualifications: Levels 4-7 (recommended for ages 19+)

BTEC Level 4-7 Professional qualifications enable learners to progress to, or within, employment or to continued study. BTEC Level 7 Professional qualifications also enable sideways progression to Master's degrees.

  • Study Skills Guides for BTEC Levels 1-3 have been developed specifically for the updated BTEC programmes and show learners the skills they need to develop in order to get the most out of their BTEC. Each centre is eligible for one free copy per registration. When you make a registration via Edexcel Online, this will automatically trigger a copy to be despatched to you.
       
  • Study Guides for BTEC Higher Nationals provide resources including excerpts from market-leading textbooks that are used on Higher Education programmes worldwide, to help learners complete the core units of their BTEC Higher National. These guides are free and available for five key sectors:
