What are Workfirst Level 1 programmes? 
 
Workfirst programmes are designed specifically for the India market to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They have been developed to provide an introduction to the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare learners for employment, or to provide career development opportunities for those already in work.
 
Available to full-time or part-time learners, Workfirst is the first vocational skills certification of its kind for entry-level jobs in areas such as sales and retail.

expand Workfirst Level 1 in Sales

This programme educates a learner with the basic knowledge and skills needed for a successful and rewarding career in sales.
 
What does it cover?
  • The basics of sales, including modules such as the roles and responsibilities of a salesperson, features and benefits of products and services, the buying and selling cycle, post-sales activities, customer records, closing techniques and product pricing
  • Employability skills, including modules such as resume writing and interview skills
  • Specialised competencies to meet job requirements.
Workfirst Level 1 in Sales: 100 hours
 
The programme comprises four units with employability skills.
 
Unit 1 - Introduction to selling (15 hrs)
Unit 2 - Preparation for selling (25 hrs)
Unit 3 - The selling process (40 hrs)
Unit 4 - Post-sales activities (10 hrs)
Employability skills (10 hrs)
 
How is it assessed?

Each unit has learning outcomes which are mapped to assessment outcomes.
Here are some examples of learning outcomes:
  • Know about different sales activities
  • Know about the job role of a salesperson
  • Be able to prepare for sales activity
  • Be able to close the sale.
To take the first learning outcome ‘Know about different sales activities’ as an example, here is how this learning outcome would be assessed.

  • List different selling situations
  • Describe the sales methods that could be used for each of the selling situations.

This programme educates a learner with the basic knowledge and skills needed for a successful and rewarding career in retail.
 
What does it cover?
  • The basics of retail, including modules such as different store formats, day-to-day store operations, visual merchandising, billing and POS (point of sale), customer service in retail, complaint handling skills and selling skills
  • Employability skills, including modules such as resume writing and interview skills
  • Specialised competencies to meet job requirements.
Workfirst Level 1 in Retail: 106 hours
 
The programme comprises three units and employability skills:
 
Unit 1 - Working in the retail sector (26 hrs)
Unit 2 - Customer service in the retail sector (32 hrs)
Unit 3 - Retail selling (36 hrs)
Employability skills (10 hrs)
 
How is it assessed?

Each unit has learning outcomes that are mapped to assessment outcomes.
Here are some examples of learning outcomes:
  • Know different retail stores/formats
  • Know about day-to-day store operations
  • Know the importance of customer service to a retail business
  • Be able to communicate with customers.
