How much does it cost?

The apprentice will need to be paid a wage, like any other employee. The National Minimum Wage for apprentices under 19 is £2.60 an hour which is £104 for a 40 hour week. The Government supplies funding for training through the National Apprenticeship Service. The amount varies depending on the age of the apprentice and the size of the employer. 16-18 year-olds are fully funded whereas the company may need to co-fund the training for an older apprentice. For more information, check out our short Funding Guide to Apprenticeships that will help make sense of it all.
