After listening to art teachers and Heads of Departments we have retained the current features of our specification. We aim to offer endorsements in Fine Art, Graphic Communication, Textile Design, 3-Dimensional Design, Photography lens and light-based media, together with an unendorsed option. A short course will be available for all.
The specification will adopt the following structure:
- Candidate portfolio – controlled assessment
- Develop a portfolio from an Externally Set Theme – external assessment

What is controlled assessment?
For the 2009 specification internal assessment will need to be carried out under controlled conditions. This change may alter the way that you deliver this part of the specification. We will, of course, provide you with assistance and guidance on how to manage controlled conditions within art and design.
You can see the QCA controlled assessment regulations for Art and Design here.
