Your subject pages are changing!

As you probably know, the subject pages are a dedicated resource for teachers on our website. They’re where you’ll find regular updates from your subject advisor, as well as other information related to your subject.

After researching how teachers use the subject pages and listening to your feedback, we’ve made some improvements that we’ll be introducing shortly. To give you an idea what to expect, here are some details about what’s changing and why.

Why the change?
Teachers have told us that they’d like to be able to find everything they need in one place on our website. At the moment, they have to look in one place to find past papers, another to find key dates, another to read notices and yet another to read subject advisor updates. So we’ve decided to bring all these elements together and make everything available on the subject pages.

Which subjects will be changing?
Phase one of this project will see changes to the following subject pages:

  • English
  • History
  • Geography
  • ICT
  • Languages
  • Maths
  • Science

We’ve chosen these subjects initially because they’re the core EBacc subjects – and we’ve included ICT because it’s also considered a core subject. But we plan to roll out the new design to more subject pages in the future. We’ll keep you informed about any subsequent changes we’re planning.

So what’s new?

Here are some of the key features of the new subject pages:

  • Browse the library and save documents in your personal ‘briefcase’

Browsing for documents

We’ve created a brand new documents library that you can access from your subject page. It allows you to search for a specific document or browse through the folders to find what you’re looking for.

If you’re a teacher, by signing in with your Edexcel Online username and password you can also access past papers and other materials relating to archived specifications.

My document briefcase      In addition, once you’re logged in you can save documents to your own, personal online ‘briefcase’ for download later. So if there’s a document you’ve found useful on the website, you won’t need to hunt around for it again – you can store it in your briefcase for future reference.

  • All your key dates in one place!

subject calendar             The new calendar feature brings together all the dates you need to be aware of in one place – including exam timetables, training events, key dates and deadlines and other events that may be relevant to your subject area – making it easier for you to look ahead and see what’s on the horizon.

A fresh new look

When will the pages be changing?
The new-style pages will be going live over the next week. We hope you’ll find the changes make your life easier!
