The NVQs in Design have been produced for those working in the design industry. These qualifications are based on National Occupational Standards produced by Creative and Cultural Skills, the Sector Skills Council for Advertising, Crafts, Cultural Heritage, Design, Literature, Music, Performing and Visual Arts. The role of Creative and Cultural Skills is to bridge the gap between industry, education and the government, and to give employers a real influence over education and skills in the UK.
The purpose of the NVQs in Design is to meet the work-based learning needs of employers and training providers within the design industries.
These NVQs are suitable for you if you work in the design industry and are pursuing a career in this area. The work you are likely to be involved with would be to clarify briefs and research information; develop alternative design ideas using materials, processes and technology; develop and present suitable design responses; produce and present detailed design proposals; research design trends and developments in materials and technologies; plan and manage design work; and create and maintain safe and effective working relationships.
