Progression and Recognition | Recognised equivalents for Edexcel and BTEC qualifications

Edexcel and BTEC qualifications are accredited on the UK’s Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF), which provides a guide to both the Level of difficulty (from Entry Level to Level 8) and Length (Award > Certificate > Diploma). However because our qualifications are offered internationally, it’s also good to know sometimes how these relate up to national qualifications across the world.

BTEC HNC and HND Qualifications - mapped by UK NARIC to Europe, USA, Canada and Australia

Our BTEC HNC and HND qualifications have been mapped to equivalent qualifications from Europe, USA, Canada and Australia, by independent organisation UK NARIC. This provide our centres with official equivalencies of BTEC HN qualifications, to many of the world’s top education systems, giving them proven credibility, and enabling progression to university and employment within these markets.

You can download the report here: UK NARIC Edexcel BTEC HNC and HND International Mapping report.

UK NARIC are a national agency responsible for providing information, advice and expert opinion on vocational, academic and professional skills and qualifications from over 180 countries worldwide. As the National Agency, managed on behalf of the UK Government, UK NARIC provide the only official source of information on international qualifications.

Edexcel and BTEC Qualifications on the EQF

UK qualifications on the QCF (including Edexcel and BTEC qualifications) have been mapped against the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) a new EU initiative to help provide parity across different educational systems. Any other country that has mapped its qualifications to the EQF can then be compared like-for-like with Edexcel and BTEC students – details of the UK equivalence, and that of other European countries can be found on the EC website.
