Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body, celebrated the creativity of Cypriot students on Monday 14 December 2009 at a free exhibition of student work hosted at Intercollege, Larnaca.
Over 20 works of art produced by GCE, GCSE and IGCSE students for their final assessment in the summer 2009 examination series was on display. The exhibition was open to the public between 10am and 5pm.
Immediately following the public exhibition, an invitation-only High Achiever Awards Ceremony was hosted by Edexcel to present certificates of excellence to the students who achieved top marks in Cyprus and internationally in Art and Design subjects.
Over 70 students received certificates at the High Achievers in Art Awards ceremony, with a further 75 students presented with certificates at a second award ceremony for academic subjects on Monday 21 December.
Sara Myers, a celebrated sculptor, will be attending the Arts High Achiever Awards ceremony to present students with their awards and talk about her experience as a professional artist. She said:
"On behalf of Edexcel, I’d like to invite everyone to attend this year’s exhibition of student work on Monday to see first hand the exceptional quality of work that Cypriot students are capable of creating. Year on year, Cypriot students achieve the highest international marks in Art and Design subjects and 2009 is no different. We are honoured once again to be able to facilitate an exhibition of student work and would like to thank Intercollege for their generous support."
Edexcel, a Pearson company, is the UK’s largest awarding body and offers British and international academic qualifications which are taught in over 25 schools in Cyprus.
The exhibition of student work was hosted at Intercollege Larnaca, 52 Famagusta Avenue, 6019 Larnaca, Dhekelia Road.
